Ang video na ito ay isang paglalagom ng aking mga natutunan sa kursong Komunikasyon150 o and Introduksyon sa Internet at sa Kultura ng Bagong Media. Ito na rin ang huling akademikong pangangailangan upang opisyal kong matapos ang Comm150.
Karamihan ng mga nilalaman ng mash-up na ito ay ang mga pangunahing bagay na aking natutunan sa pag-aaral ng Internet o ng New Media sa kabuuan. Ang ilan rin ay binigyang inspirasyon sa akin ni Prop. Flaudette May Datuin ng Departamento ng Aralin sa Sining nang siya ay nagbigay reaksyon sa aming papel noong nakaraang Kritika: Isang Colloquium ng mga Mag-aaral ng Brodkasting.
Tunay nga na binabago na ng Internet ang pag-aaral ng media at aking mapangahas na sasabihing kinakailangan na rin ng mga bagong teorya ng akademya sa pag-aaral nito. Sabi nga ni Prop. Datuin, sina Althusser at ang iba mang mga theorists 'are so 20th century'. Sa mabilis nga na pag-advance ng teknolohiya ay kinakailangan nating sabayan ang pagbabagong dulot nito.
Hindi ko naman sinasabing obsolete na ang paggamit kina Marx, Barthes, Bentham, o sino pa man. Ang punto lang na nais kong iparating ay dapat na tayong gumamit ng mga bagong literatura, mga bagong akda ng mga makabagong theorists tulad nina Jenkins, Lessig, o ni Krotoski sa mga aralin na pang-media.
At dahil nga napakabilis na ng pagbabago ng ating lipunan dulot ng Internet, masarap isipin kung saan nga ba tayo patungo. We are in the age of shifting paradigms, a moving landscape, and a changing humanity.

It seems that you've learned a lot because your AVP contains summaries of almost all the topics we've discussed in class.
I want to agree on your idea about Produsage. Yes, it empowers internet consumers to produce, use, consume, create, share, replicate, and mix online materials in the easiest way. Because of that, it develops ones creativity. How? Because the Internet is a huge source of ideas and creative thoughts, adopting these can formulate better concepts.

Maganda ang punto mo Jervis sa pagsabing kinakailangan na nga ng mga bagong teorya na akma sa ating pag-aaral ng midya. Subalit, kinakailangan ding isaalang-alang na halos lahat sa mga guro ng ating kolehiyo, partikular na ang ating departamento, ay hindi pa handa sa mga makabagong teoryang pang-midya o siguro ay mas akmang sabihing hindi nagpapakadalubhasa sa mga teoryang ito, at si Propesor Canlas pa lamang ang wawasak sa lumang paradigm ng mga pananaliksik kung sa pag-gamit ng mga makabagong teorya ang iisipin.
ReplyDeleteNais ko lang ding ibahagi ang nasabi ni Sir Choy sa aming klase na baka raw ay magkaroon ng kolaborasyon ang departamento ng brodkasting at ang departamento ng aralin sa sining upang mas mapalawak pa raw ang mga teoryang maaring magamit ng mga mag-aaral.
Sana lang magpatuloy pa ang mga kurso kagaya ng Komunikasyon 150 upang mas mabigyan ng malawk na perspektibo ang mga mag-aaral sa mga teoryang maari nilang magamit para sa kanilang tisis ngayong undergraduate at maging sa mga postgraduate nila.
Binabati ko si Propesor Canlas sa maayos at matibay na pundasyon ng mga teoryang kaniyang inilatag sa ating klase. Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya at maging sa inyong mga kapwa ko mag-aaral dahil aaminin ko, boring mang basahin ang mga paksa ay naging makabuluhan ang pagkakatuto ko dahil na rin sa ating interaksyon sa loob at maging sa labas ng klase. Mabuhay tayo!

This video sums up the entire semester! But one semester is too short for exploring the vast cyberspace and the potency of the Internet. I wish there would another Internet class (*ehem *ehem Ma'am Data) Anyway, back to being an academic.
I would like to add to Aldrin's comment:

If the department is not ready for new media theories, then when will it ever be? I think it's a good start, with 150, that the student get a taste of new media. I think that if the department is not yet ready and Ma'am Data is so far the only one who is in new media theories, then don't you think that it's time for us students to step up and make our professors realize the need for new media theories? Let's not stop at saying, "the department is not ready", let's try to make them see the value of this new move. And having a Cyberdwende website is a good move for that.
Let's keep the movement alive!

I really wished that I was able to bring this up in the colloquium, that the BC students are not just stuck with Althusser and other 20th century readings but we have literature on new media already.
We also, I think, must dismiss the notion of the net being a big trashbin of irrelevant concepts, but we must make the world realize of its potentials that it may utilize for the betterment of the society. :)
Agree ako sa conclusion mo Jervis! Gamitin ang internet sa ikabubuti ng lahat. Haha. Isa lang masasabi ko. Buti nalang ako nag edit ng cyberstalking video natin!!! Haha. Peeeeeeace! De, love kita lam mo yan. ;) Pero dahil close tayo, mej ookrayin kita. haha. Gets ko yung gusto mo gawin sa vid eh! :) Play with words etc, pero siguro dapat mejo, magkakaparehas na fonts yung ginamit mo, and rule no.1 wag gagamit ng sobrang arteng fonts sa video! haha. yung mga curly curly stuff, stay away from that. It would also help, if you had like a color palette in mind, para may color coordination yung mga fonts and their shadows etc. hehe. okay masyado ako teknikal. Pero pinakagusto ko to sa lahat ng mashups dahil nagdeclare ka ng mga bagong bagay! Like, Henry Jenkins is the new Karl Marx! Haha! Maganda yan.

Hi Faith! I showed the video to some Assers and problema din nila yung fonts. Haha. Anyhoo, I saved the project so that I can edit it pa, in the future. Parang gusto ko ring palitan yung song. Hahaha.

ReplyDeleteThe internet is still evolving that's why it is very interesting to study. There are still a lot of questions about it and its implications. The internet is so much more than most people see (aka facebook only) so there should be more new media literacy campaigns to educate the people.
There is little hope of change for TV and other traditional media but I guess we can still make a change in new media. Naks! hehe
