Who Are You Online?
A mash up of on online identities inspired by Aleks Krostoski's "Cult of Me".
I believe that we all create new identities online while still managing to stay real.

Enjoy! No copyright infringement intended. The videos are from various television series.

Binabati kita.

  2. Series nowadays incorporate the Internet already! I love it. And props to Joe for acutally being able to track these Internet-related scenes from the series, Good job! I find that very difficult finding a 4-second scene in a series that about 45 mins!

So I guess, the way we shape our identity online depends on our off line life. Example, when we fight with a friend, we "remove" her from our online friends list! However there are some cases to that we have double (or triple, of quadruple etc) lives online! It actually depends on the person. I think that's the power that the Internet gives, the ability to create and recreate ourselves... online. But the morals and values step in. Are we really who we are online? But then again, devil's advocates would say, do we really have to sync our off line lives with our online lives? Isn't that one perk we get from the Internet? Do we have to think linearly this non-linear cyber world? What is love? (just kidding)

I have a lot of questions in my head left unanswered... I think there ought to be another Internet studies class!

  3. But if you think about it, don't we also mask ourselves in the REAL world? So what then is real?

  4. 1. Marijoe, grabe lang sa diversity ng series. MISFITS FTW. Haha.

    2. Jara, May ganun? Haha.

Anywho, one of the highlights that I was able to derive from this without thinking of the actual topic is how these TV series converged and incorporated the internet in its content already. I think this is a pretty relevant and/or substantial development in the Internet-is-the-new-TV debate, right?

Next, well, yeah, what Jara said. It's just as if there's a separate masking between the two. Kung sa internet you create your own new identity altogether and augment it with new ones, sa personal you kind of just truncate some of them or force them upon yourself. Same principle, pero kasi siyempre sa internet you'll be able to completely mask it (somehow) and give your readers an altogether different impression. Pag personal kasi, there are people who somehow 'know' the real you already.

GUYS, WATCH CATFISH. promise. Ganda. read my entry, if you can endure haha.
